Professor Yoon Woo Koh, MD, PhD, completed his clinical fellowship in the College of Medicine at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, where he is currently Chairman, Director, and Professor of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and has served as Director of the Thyroid Cancer Clinic and the Yonsei Head & Neck Cancer Center since 2021. He was Vice Dean for Graduate Affairs at the same university previously.
Professor Koh is an internationally recognized pioneer in robotic retroauricular neck dissection for thyroid and head and neck cancers. He has contributed substantially to the development of “minimally invasive head and neck surgery and thyroid surgery with a retroauricular approach”. With over 2,600 procedures, he possesses the world's largest experience in robotic head and neck surgery. His expertise encompasses the highest volume of transoral robotic surgery with robotic retroauricular neck dissection for thyroid and head and neck cancers, gasless transoral robotic thyroidectomy, and robotic total or partial laryngectomy, salivary gland surgery, and robotic applications for free flap reconstruction.
Professor Koh’s scholarly contributions include authoring over 100 original articles and book chapters on endoscopic and robotic thyroid and head and neck surgery. His research is dedicated to clinical outcomes and to elucidating the mechanisms of crosstalk signaling after targeted therapy and the development of treatment platforms to overcome drug resistance in thyroid and head and neck cancers. He also plays key roles in the global advancement of his field as General Secretary of the International Guild of Robotic & Endoscopic Head and Neck Surgery.​​​
