Professor Kohei Hashimoto is Professor at Kyorin University since 2025. He graduated from Keio University, Tokyo in 2005, completed his residency in 2012, and obtained his PhD in 2014. He then pursued a research fellowship at the Latner Thoracic Surgery Research Laboratories at University of Toronto and clinical fellowships in the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 2016 and the Lung Transplant Program at Toronto General Hospital in 2017. Upon returning to Japan, Professor Hashimoto established the robotic thoracic surgery program at Ashikaga Red Cross Hospital as department head. He later served as a faculty member at the Cancer Institute Hospital in Tokyo before joining the Kyorin University.

Professor Hashimoto has extensive expertise in minimally invasive surgery, airway interventions, and complex thoracic malignancies. His clinical expertise spans minimally invasive surgery (VATS and robotic) for lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies, tracheal surgery, airway interventions, and extended surgery for complex thoracic diseases. His research focuses on simulation of airway surgery using 3D models including medical device development, AI diagnostic tools for lung cancer surgery, extended applications of robotic surgery, and clinical and translational research on neoadjuvant immunotherapy for lung cancer.

Professor Hashimoto’s research has been recognized by prestigious organizations, including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. His work has been published in leading journals such as the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, American Journal of Transplantation, and Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
