Professor Law graduated from Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong in 1987 and obtained the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1991. He was conferred the degree of Master of Surgery in 2001. In 2008, Professor Law was appointed as the Clinical Professor of Surgery. He was the Anthony and Anne Cheung Professor in Innovative and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Hong Kong as well as the Chief of Colorectal Surgery at Queen Mary Hospital till June 2023. From 2013 to 2018, he was the Associate Dean (Clinical Affairs) of the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. He currently works as a part-time Clinical Professor as well as honorary consultant at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital.
Professor Law’s main clinical and research interests are in colorectal surgery and minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery. He was the James IV traveling fellow in 2014. In 2017, he was conferred Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Professor Law is a member of numerous professional societies. He was the President of the International Society of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery. He was also the Secretary-General and Vice President of the International Society for Digestive Surgery. Professor Law has authored over 230 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 5 book chapters. He has also given over 240 lectures on colorectal surgery.
