Dr. Velda Chow is Consultant and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery in Queen Mary Hospital, The University of Hong Kong. She is currently Chief of the Divisions of Head and Neck Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Hong Kong Queen Mary Hospital.
Dr. Chow obtained her Medical and Doctoral degrees from the University of Hong Kong. She undertook sub-specialty training in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery in Queen Mary Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, University Pittsburgh Medical Center and Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Chow’s clinical and research work is on pharyngo-esophageal cancer treatment, management of complex pharyngo-esophageal defects, management of nasopharyngeal tumours and applications of robotic surgery in the head and neck region.
She is currently editorial board member of several peer reviewed journals including Annals of Esophagus and Surgical Practice. Dr. Chow is an active member of the Head and Neck Cancer International Group Guidelines and Protocols Committee, and Hong Kong Nasopharyngeal Cancer Study Group. She served as President of the Hong Kong Head and Neck Society in 2021. She is Chairlady and Convenor of the upcoming International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies Head and Neck Cancer Summit in Hong Kong.
