Dr. Fion S.Y. Chan graduated from Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong and received her surgical training in Queen Mary Hospital. She became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2006. She is a fellow of American College of Surgeons. She joined the Division of Esophageal and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery at Queen Mary Hospital since 2006 and is currently Consultant of the Department of Surgery, Queen Mary Hospital She received GB Ong Travelling Grant in 2009 and has visited internationally renowned centers to acquire advanced techniques in endoscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery as well as metabolic and bariatric surgery. She is a member of the steering committee of The Surgical Outcomes Monitoring & Improvement Program (SOMIP) in Hong Kong. She is currently treasurer of the Hong Kong Society of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons and council member of the Hong Kong Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She takes a leading role in the development of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Service and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program in Queen Mary Hospital.
